Food & Drink
Hi. I’m Louise, a small batch, artisan coffee roaster based in the idyllic and remote community of Doune, Knoydart. All our coffee is roasted to order on our hand built coffee roaster.
We are totally off grid so our roaster is powered by our own hydro and solar systems and all our packaging is compostable and biodegradable. Our coffee is served in the Knoydart Pottery and Tearoom where you can also buy small packs of coffee to take away with you. You can also buy some of our other varieties of coffee from the Knoydart Foundation Community Shop. And of course our coffee is served at the award winning Doune Restaurant where our coffee is also available to buy.
For more information about what we do and to buy online and have the beans delivered to your home please visit our website or facebook page.
Doune Dining Room
The Dining Room at Doune is sat on the shores of Doune Bay with incredible views of Skye, Eigg and Rhum. Built in the nineties, visitors to Knoydart have been dining at Doune for years and many hold memories of lively evenings filled with good food, good company and plenty of wine and whisky. Dinner is a set menu served at 7.30pm and is a communal affair. The main emphasis of the food is locally sourced and carefully prepared - specialities include a Seafood platter, Doune Bay Crab soup and interesting roasts and stews and desserts using the soft fruit from our garden. Lunches and Afternoon Teas are available by request. In addition to our main dining room which opens in March and closes in October, we serve a Winter Lunch menu in The Dining Room of The White House, the room where the first guests to Doune were entertained in the early days. We offer a set lunch, giving you the chance to enjoy a morning walk or boat trip to Doune, and enough time to get home in day light. Our Winter Lunch menu runs from November to March and is available three days per week. Part of the excitement of dining at Doune is getting here as we are only accessible on foot or by boat - good walking boots and a sense of adventure (and humour!) are essential criteria for Doune visitors!
Knoydart Brewery is a 5 barrel brewery set up in a long deconsecrated chapel overlooking Loch Nevis. In December 2018 we offered our first beer, The Seven Men, a malty pale ale, followed by its golden sibling, Heavenly Blonde. Knoydart Brewery makes beer with grains, hops, yeast, mountain water and the pure magic of Knoydart.
We are working to get a premises license for a tap room so that in addition to selling wholesale to our licensed retailers, when we are not brewing, we can give you a tour of our brewery, you can sample a pint or two at our bar, talk about beer, the hills, the wildlife or the weather and then take some bottles home.
