This weekend past we enjoyed a fantastic few days filled with community spirit and fun. On Saturday 30th August the village was buzzing with both the K15 Arts & Crafts Fair and Run Knoydart events taking place. The hall was full to capacity with stalls displaying every form of craft you could imagine - paintings, wood crafts, lace, loom weaving, jewellery, handmade bears, photographs, cushions, bags, toys, walking sticks, jams, cakes, soaps, knitwear.... you name it, it was probably there. The stall holders had a brilliant turnout from both locals and visitors coming for a look around and making some early Christmas present purchases as well as indulging in some shopping for themselves!
Run Knoydart also took place throughout the morning and afternoon - with a great turnout for all three races. the 5k was a circuit around the bay; 10k starting at Airor and finishing in the village; and the trail run using the circuit out to inverguserain, over to Airor and back round to Inverie. Well done to all the competitors - your goody bags, medals and prizes were well deserved!!
The fun continued on to Sunday when we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the Community Street Party outside the village hall. We tucked in to Pimms, homemade Elderflower Champagne, tea in vintage cups, sandwiches, cakes, and so much amazing food (the whole lot donated by the attendees covered 8 tables!). Blankets and chairs were set out on the grass to enjoy the watching the games including a treasure hunt, obstacle course, something involving golf balls and a tissue box, skipping and lots for the kids to do. The sun came out and the midges were at bay until just the right moment - as soon as everything was packed up the rain poured in true Knoydart fashion! More pictures on the Facebook page.
