Last year you may remember we posted about an art project created by local lass Paisley Walsh called Inside Out: The Last Wilderness. Inside Out is a global art project which aims to give everyone the opportunity to share their portrait and make a statement for what they stand for. It is a global platform for people to share their untold stories and transform messages of personal identity into works of public art.
Over last summer Paisley began taking portraits of the Knoydart residents clocking up over 50 willing participants. After a successful crowdfunding appeal to fund the project the photo's went off to be printed and were sent back to create an installation on Knoydart. Due to bad weather the pasting was postponed but in August this year the pasting finally began.
A break in the weather allowed for two days of intense pasting, with many volunteers from the community turning out to lend a hand. The Knoydart Pottery & Tearoom building was chosen as the location for the paste. After many hours of climbing up and down ladders and getting covered in glue, the last poster went up and the project was complete.
We would like to say a huge well done and THANK YOU to Paisley for her creativity and commitment on this project. Whilst the installation is only temporary (unfortunately the recent rain and wind has already started to rip away the faces) the portraits will remain online for us to see for many years to come, and the experience will be remembered by all who were involved.
