Walking.

Knoydart has something for everybody when it comes to walking - from low-level, two-hour wanders, to extended Munro-bagging expeditions. The Ranger Service has produced a range of nine walks leaflets which many find useful, and also sell maps which are essential for the more serious days out, or for people who just want to wander wherever the mood takes them!

The three Munros on the peninsula (Ladhar Bheinn, Luinne Bheinn and Meall Buidhe) are all relatively major undertakings, but reward the walker with spectacular views across Knoydart to the Small Isles and the Skye Cuillins. Lesser peaks should not be forgotten: Sgurr Coire Choinnichean, the pointy one above Inverie, is surprisingly challenging, yet reveals hidden gems such as a massive gully and a split ridge.

Many people who are here for just a day take advantage of the signposted “Knoydart in a Knutshell” route, a pleasant introduction to Inverie and environs. It is recommended that this walk, and the ones mentioned above, are done in conjunction with one of the Ranger leaflets, which contain a wealth of information.
