West Knoydart Deer Management Group.

The West Knoydart Deer Management Group aims to work towards positive cooperation in deer management, and other relevant areas of land management, between landowners and other stakeholders, within the Knoydart Peninsula. It provides a forum for local land managers to coordinate activities in order to work towards their shared land management objectives, and helps to deliver community as well as wider public interest benefits from deer management. The group meets twice per year and members also maintain effective communication throughout the year. They work together to carry out an annual deer count and habitat impact monitoring surveys, in order to keep track of the deer population density and its impact on the environment. They coordinate culling to protect the habitats and maintain the welfare of the deer herd, as well as for other individual objectives which often vary between members.
